THEA SATO QUARTET IN THE TERRACE VILLA EMILIA SINCE 28th JULY UNTIL 11 th AUGOST 2010.

Thea Soti, the young Berlin-based jazz-singer and songwriter has recently launched her new project with Hungarian musicians. The quartet is defined by the special duo of the bass guitar and vocal which also forms as the ground for their own compositions. This subtle musical world is perfectly completed by the pulsating grooves of the percussion and rhodes. Besides intimate improvisations and folk-song-like confessions, flirty games and cool rhythms characterize their songs which blend acoustic soul with jazz and world music.

Thea Soti has been successfully presented at this year`s MOL Jazz Festival Budapest (Sweet Double) and has received - among many other - invitations by the legendary jazz club of Berlin, Badenscher Hof , the beloved music cafe of the famous Raday-street (IF Cafe) and the Hungarian jazz cellar,Take Five. They are planning to record their first studio album at the end of next year. The quartet which is simultaneously active both in Berlin and Budapestfinds it challenging to take part in various multimedia installations and live acts. Such a cooperation with video artist, David Szauder has recently been presented in Germany under the title of BalaTON Performance. Thea Soti was born in 1985 in Backi Vinogradi (Serbia). She studied music since her early age taking lessons at the primary music school of Subotica. She played classical piano for 8 years also successfully taking part in international competitions. At the Kőbánya Music College of Budapest she started to engage herself with jazz and modern music styles. At the moment she is studying jazz-singing in Berlin and introducing her new quartet to the international audience of clubs and festivals.

LA BARBACOA DEL HOTEL VILLA EMILIA

Como cada año, se ha abierto la temporada de la Barbacoa en el Villa Emilia. Qué ofrece que sea tan especial y tenga tanto éxito???…

Bueno, más que decirlo hay que vivirlo, el ambiente, la música, comer al aire libre,… es una forma diferente de vivir Barcelona. Disfruta de una noche cálida en la Terraza del Villa Emilia, cenando un plato muy veraniego: “Las brochetas a la Barbacoa”, con una buena copa de vino y una refrescante ensalada.

¡ Este verano no te lo puedes perder !

Cada Jueves de 20.30 a 23.00 horas, y siempre podemos continuar la noche en la terraza hasta la 1 de la madrugada.

Every thursday from 8.30PM to 11PM, and you can always enjoy the terrace until 1AM.

Guestbook Art

Working as Sales Manager in a big city trendy hotel can be stressing sometimes. Everything has to be setlled, we have to take care personally of the guest and look after every single detail. It’s nice but, sometimes it is necessary to have a break and relax a few minutes to go on with my duty.

One of my favourite acitivity to relax is to go to front office and read the comments of the guests on the guest book. It’s full of surprises about the hotel that most of the times that I had never heard before.

For instance, I didn’t know how good were our Mohitos until I red one guest comment on the book “the best mojito in my life” she said. That summer night I called my wife to join me at our Terraza to try a Mojito as a guest of the Villa Emilia and belive or not I totally agreed with the guest comment.

This morning I was having a look again at the book and, found this little work of art. No more words are needed. Our compliments to the artist!
